A JOURNEY TO FIND THE TREASURES....

First time I was so surprised and very happy of knowing that Lampung Province has Batik as part of cultural product. I met this brand from an event called TAPIS EVOLUTION at 2017 which was in this event also involve Hand Painting Batik Lampung that represented by SIGER BATIK. . From my first sight I had fallen in love with the products, hand painted clothes with traditional Lampung motifs with natural colors. From there I tried inquiry furthermore and plan to visit their workshop.

Soon after that I tried to find the location where is not so far away from my home , surprisingly the workshop and gallery located in the city. And lucky me, on that day I met many batik makers working at the workshop, so I can see how the process and capturing their activities starting from drawing the motifs which are Lampung Traditional motifs. Some workers doing Batik, painting the clothes with liquid candle while the others doing coloring with brushing process.

Mrs Laila Al Khusna is a very special lady who starting her Batik project since 2008 . She started the project from her endless love of Batik which was part of her childhood in Java. She also concern about society in her neighborhood where she found many unemployed young generations and house wives. Even she also empowered disables in her project.

Firstly it was not easy. Unfortunately she facing problem with liquidity from what she need to fund the projects. About 30 people willing to learn hand painting batik from her but she had not enough money to fund the project by her self. But she was not desperate, she continuously keep her efforts going to make the project running. And finally SHE MADE IT! She able to run her project and funding it , with her efforts this project got Supports from government funding program .

Nowadays she run a gallery in her workshop as marketing distribution support of her products made by her batik maker members, and also actively involve in many exhibitions and fashion shows as her marketing efforts to introduce their products.

Until now Siger Batik has been registered 11 patents / copy right of their product which are so beautiful with traditional Lampung Signature. Their products also are well known abroad such as in Turkey, Iran, Germany and Egypt. She also hire about 200 batik makers in Lampung who are produce hand painting batik independently and support the marketing distribution for them.

So, Mrs Laila Al Khusna deserve for an Award from Ministry of Industrial and Trade called Upakarti at Year 2014 as appreciation on her efforts & dedication as Hand Painting Batik Pioneer in Lampung and of her concern to society in her neighborhood specially she has been empowering women and disables to involve in her project.
